About George

George has been a fanatic sports card collector since he was 8 years old.

In 1980, at 10, during his family’s move from Boston to Quincy, MA, he discovered his mother had somehow managed to lose his entire card collection in the move. George was heartbroken but undetered. With the dollar his father gave him for a trip to the local mom and pop grocery store, he marched up the street and bought a Snickers bar and pack of 1980 Topps baseball cards. That was the day that he started to rebuild his card collection, and hasn’t stopped since.

It was only 10 years later at the age of 20 that George took the next step in his passion for baseball cards when he opened up his very own sports card shop: Franklin Sports Cards in Quincy. He ran the successful shop for five fun-filled years and eventually opened another card shop in Quincy, this time with his brother Tom.

An entrepreneur at heart, George has also been businessman, having owned and operated several successful bars and restaurants - all located in his home of Quincy. All the while, George has never stopped collecting and has amassed an impressive collection of sports cards.

These days, you can find George back on Franklin Street, just a few storefronts down from his first shop, at George Pep’s Baseball Cards & More. He’s eating less Snickers these days, but you can bet he’s still collecting and selling cards. And he wouldn’t have it any other way! He’s focusing only on sports cards from this moment on, so find him at George Pep’s Baseball Cards & More!
